COMPANY HISTORY

Thornber and Walker have practiced continuously from offices in Preston since its formation in 1969. A loyal workforce has been a feature of the practice with founding partner David Walker still providing support as a consultant. Of the current directors, Charles Nixon has been with the practice for 30 years, Stuart Cross 14 years and Andrew Hood 10 years. Consequently the practice has a good blend of youth with experience running through from director level to more technical members of staff.

Experienced personnel is a necessary requirement of the work now undertaken by the practice. Work is balanced between traditional quantity surveying duties and project management services. Our experience in project management has been gained over 30 years and compliments our role as quantity surveyors enabling us to understand the aims and objectives of clients and the consultancy team. This added value to our services allows us to contribute more proactively on a range of subjects not limited to project cost control.

Thornber and Walker have always carried out a wide range of new build and refurbishment contracts for both public and private clients. Many of these have developed into long term associations with many repeat appointments. The practice has all the necessary in-house experience to cope with the most arduous projects with skill and care.
